Loudon outdoor activities

Residents and visitors in the city of Loudon in East Tennessee who enjoy recreational pursuits in the great outdoor will find plenty to keep them occupied in the surrounding country side including the Loudon Lake area which has plenty of things to see and do. This includes 12 golf courses and 3 disc golf courses, several nature and hiking trails, 2 mountain bike trails, 10 historical sites, several swimming pools and recreation centers, a skate park and a multitude of boating opportunities.

The latter include a unique way to explore the nearby city of Knoxville while dining aboard the decks of a luxury yacht on the elegant Volunteer Princess. Knoxville is also home to the Star of Knoxville Riverboat which is an authentic paddle wheeler that is available for public and private charters – with a minimum of 20 people in a group – and can hold up to 325 passengers. The interior main deck is fully enclosed and air conditioned or heated as the season requires with refined décor and it is two bars, a large dance floor and band stage so it is often used for special events such as weddings, parties etc with dinner and entertainment provided also. If you would rather enjoy the lake on a much smaller means of transport, speed boats, sail boats and jet skis are available to rent too for swimming, fishing and other related activities.

There are also several campsites in the Loudon Lake area, some of which are open all year round including Southlake RV Park which offers facilities for camper vans and tents etc. There are 90 full hook-up sites available with full utilities such as water and electric (mostly 30-amps though there are some 50-amps too subject to availability) as well as 27 tent sites, a bath house, laundry room, dump site, swimming pool, fishing dock and children’s playground. This site also a rural-style lodge where you will find a wood-burning stove, a paperback library and useful supplies for your RV as well as live bait for any aspiring anglers. The Toqua Campsite in nearby is situated in Vonore and has 76 sites for RVs, right on the shores of the lake in a very scenic location that is as tranquil as it is beautiful. Additional facilities here include a beach with designated swimming area, easy access boat ramps, a mini-convenience store, a gated security entrance and a 24 hour site manager.

Horse riding enthusiasts in the city of Loudon area also find several stables where they can take lessons or explore the beautiful countryside of the surrounding region by horseback. These include the Dry Ridge Farm on Loudon’s Dry Ridge Road and McNabb Farm which can be located on Wade Rd West in the city.
