G. Keith Alley graduated as an Echols Scholar from the University of Virginia with a B.A. with Distinction in 1992.
From 1992 to 1995 when he graduated, Mr. Alley studied law and focused his studies on trial advocacy, contracts and evidence at the University of Tennessee College of Law. Mr. Alley actively participated in both civil and criminal trial advocacy courses and served as a Knox County General Sessions Court mediator while in law school. Mr. Alley was also active in coaching high school mock trial students participating in the Tennessee Mock Trial competition during that time.

Mr. Alley’s work with mock trial students led him to the practice of law in Anderson County, Tennessee, where he was employed as an associate attorney from 1995 to 2002. While an associate, he practiced approximately 80% civil and 20% criminal litigation. In 2002, Mr. Alley formed a law firm with offices in Anderson County and Sevier County and served as that firm’s primary litigator. He continued his practice with his own firm focusing entirely upon civil litigation from 2002 to 2007. In 2007, Mr. Alley left the firm he helped found favoring instead to join the practice of Kizer & Black, Attorneys, PLLC.
Mr. Alley’s areas of practice continue to include general civil litigation, all matters involving workers’ compensation, personal injury litigation, contract disputes, construction issues, boundary disputes, land condemnation, landlord/tenant issues, debt collection, consumer protection, will contests, contested conservatorships and motor vehicle warranty claims. Mr. Alley represents business owners, home owners, contractors and subcontractors in a wide range of construction-related legal issues and has considerable experience litigating construction disputes. Mr. Alley represents both injured employees and business in workers’ compensation claims. Since 1996, Mr. Alley has represented literally hundreds of employees and individuals injured in the course of their work or as a result of the negligence of others. Mr. Alley also has considerable experience in representing individuals involved in will contests and contested conservatorships. Mr. Alley also handles a wide range of contract disputes including business dissolutions, partnership disputers, landlord/tenant disputes and misrepresentation claims.

Mr. Alley routinely represents both out-of-state clients and businesses with interests and issues in Tennessee as well as clients with issues requiring litigation in Courts located in Anderson, Blount, Campbell, Claiborne, Cocke, Grainger, Hamilton, Knox, Loudon, McMinn, Meigs, Monroe, Morgan, Roane, Scott, Sevier, Union and Washington Counties. Mr. Alley maintains an active membership in the Anderson County, Blount County, Knox County, Loudon County, Sevier County and Tennessee Bar Associations. Recently, Mr. Alley served as the President Elect and then President of the Loudon County Bar Association. Mr. Alley is a current member of the Tennessee Association of Construction Counsel and serves as a member of the Town of Farragut Board of Zoning Appeals. A native of Maryville, Tennessee, David Black graduated from the University of Tennessee with a B.S. in Liberal Arts in 1966. In 1967 he graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Law. He served on active duty in the U. S. Army from 1969-1971 and as a part-time Assistant Attorney General from 1972 to 1974. In 1968 he joined Kizer & Black, Attorneys, and has practiced in the areas of extensive civil and business litigation. He is licensed to practice before all state courts, United States District Courts, the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, the United States Claims Court, and the Supreme Court of the United States.
He is certified as a civil trial specialist by the National Board of Trial Advocacy and by the Supreme Court’s Commission on Certification. He is also listed in Best Lawyers in America and has an AV Martindale-Hubbell rating. He is a certified Mediator.
He is an advocate of the American Board of Trial Advocates, a member of the Tennessee and American Bar Associations, and the Tennessee and American Association for Justice.

A native of Maryville, Tennessee, Marty Black graduated cum laude from Mount Holyoke College in 1967. In 1973, she graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Law where she was first in her class, a member of Order of the Coif, a member of the Tennessee Law Review, and Graduate of the Year. From 1973 to 1981, she was a full-time professor at the University of Tennessee College of Law, being an Assistant Professor from 1973 to 1976 and a tenured Associate Professor from 1976 to 1981. She joined Kizer and Black Attorneys in 1981 and has since then practiced there in the areas of estate planning, estate administration, and business transactions.
From 1990 to 1992, she served on the Tennessee Supreme Court Commission to study the Appellate Courts and from 1993 to 1996, she served on the Tennessee Supreme Court Commission on the Future of the Tennessee Judicial System. She was a member of the Tennessee Bar Association Commission on Legal Education and is a Fellow of the Tennessee Bar Foundation and a Director of the Tennessee Supreme Court Historical Society. In 1996, she was appointed a member of a Special Tennessee Supreme Court to hear a challenge to the validity of the election of the Court. From 1997 – 2003, she served as a Hearing Committee member for the Tennessee Board of Professional Responsibility. She has an AV Martindale-Hubbell rating and is listed in Best Lawyers in America.
In 1985, she received the Knox County Bar Association Law and Liberty Award and in 2001, she received the American Bar Association Small Firm Merit Award.
She is certified both as an Elder Law Specialist and as an Estate Planning Specialist by the Tennessee Commission on Continuing Legal Education Specialization and is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel. Melanie E. Davis, a native of Maryville, Tennessee, is an AV rated lawyer by Martindale-Hubbell. She achieved that distinction at the age of 42.
She graduated from the University of Tennessee with a B.A. in French Magna Cum Laude in 1992. She was Phi Beta Kappa and a Normandy Scholar. She attended graduate school at the University of Tennessee from 1992-1993 in French Literature and went on to Law School, graduating from the University of Tennessee College of Law Cum Laude in 1996. In Law School she was the President Phi Delta Phi Legal Fraternity, a member of the Moot Court Board, a semi-finalist in the College of Law Advocates Prize, and a member of the Labor Law Moot Court Team. She was Woman Graduate of the Year in 1996.
While attending law school, Ms. Davis clerked for the U. S. Attorney’s Office in Knoxville, Tennessee and for the Honorable Leon Jordan of the U. S. District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee.
Ms. Davis joined Kizer & Black in 1995 and has been a partner since 2007. Her areas of practice include general civil and business litigation, personal injury, contract litigation, municipal law, land use law, property owners’ association law, condominium owners’ association law, and appellate practice.
Ms. Davis has represented the City of Maryville since 1999 and as such represents the City Council, the Planning Commission, the Board of Zoning Appeals, and the City School Board. She has been active in drafting and enforcing numerous ordinances enacted by the City and in representing the City in its contracts and litigation.
Ms. Davis represents approximately 50 property owners’ associations and condominium owners’ associations throughout East Tennessee. She also represents several planning commissions and utility districts in the area.
Ms. Davis is Board Certified in civil trial advocacy by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. She is certified as a civil trial specialist by the Tennessee Commission of Continuing Legal Education and Specialization. She is also certified by the National Board of Civil Pretrial Practice Advocacy as a specialist in civil pretrial advocacy.
Ms. Davis was named as one of the top 100 lawyers in Tennessee for 2013 by the National Trial Lawyers Association.

Matthew C. Haralson graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Law in 2002 after working for eight years in emergency services as a firefighter/EMT. Sarah Swanson Higgins was born in New Kensington, PA. She graduated from The Pennsylvania State University in 1977 with a BA in history and from the University of Maryland School of Law in 1983 with a J.D. Shortly after moving to Knoxville in 1985, Ms. Higgins began practicing in the family law area. She has practiced domestic relations law in most of the counties of East Tennessee and in the Appellate Court of Tennessee, Eastern District. Kelly Love Manning, born in Knoxville, Tennessee, graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Tennessee in 2003 with a degree in Finance. After working in southern California as a consultant for a national mortgage lender, she returned to Knoxville to attend the University of Tennessee College of Law and graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2007. After graduation, Ms. Manning worked for a large law firm in Atlanta representing banks and other lenders in securitized mortgage transactions. John T. McArthur was born in Maryville, Tennessee in 1951. He graduated from the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services. In 1983 He graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Law where he was a member of the Moot Court Board and a semi-finalist in the College of Law Advocates Prize.
John joined Kizer & Black, Attorneys in 1983. He is currently the Chief Manager of Kizer & Black, Attorneys, PLLC. His areas of practice include general civil litigation, construction litigation, collections, employment law, personal injury and worker’s compensation law. He has spoken extensively to employers and business groups regarding state and federal regulations pertaining to wage and hour, discrimination and employment issues. He has made numerous presentations regarding construction law issues and the Tennessee lien statute to trade groups including contractors, sub-contractors and suppliers.
He has served as the President of the Blount County Bar Association (1992), as a Hearing Committee Member of the Tennessee Supreme Court’s Board of Professional Responsibility (1999-2005) and as a Director of the Knoxville Legal Aid Society Board of Directors (1993-2000). He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Tennessee Bar Association and the Blount County Bar Association. He is active in community organizations having served on the Board of Alternatives for Blount County, former Chairman of the Blount County Foster Care Review Board, local Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration committee, American Field Service (foreign exchange program) volunteer, Habitat For Humanity volunteer and numerous church and Boy Scout organizations.

J. Kevin Renfro was born in 1961 in Blount County, Tennessee. He graduated summa cum laude from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville in 1983. Mr. Renfro then earned a JD from the University College of Law in 1986, where he earned the American Jurisprudence Award and was a member of Phi Delta Phi law fraternity. Mr. Renfro was listed in Who’s Who Among Practicing Attorneys in 1990, and subsequently in 1992 in Who’s Who Among Rising Young Americans. His practice is exclusively dedicated to real property, land, title, banking and commercial law. He is admitted to practice in the state and federal courts of the State of Tennessee, and is a member of the American, Tennessee, Knox County and Blount County bar associations, as well as the Tennessee Land Title Association and the American Land Title Association. Originally from Oxford, North Carolina, P. Andrew (Andy) Sneed graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Wake Forest University in 1992 with a degree in philosophy. He then obtained a Master of Divinity degree magna cum laude from Duke University in 1995 and served for ten years as a United Methodist pastor in Chattanooga and Knoxville, Tennessee. In 2008, Mr. Sneed graduated cum laude from the University of Tennessee College of Law with a concentration in Business Transactions. Mr. Sneed has been with Kizer & Black since 2006. He practices in the areas of Estate Planning, Wills and Trusts, Estate Administration, Elder Law, Business Law, and Transactions. A member of the Blount County, Knoxville, and Tennessee Bar Associations, Mr. Sneed is licensed to practice in all Tennessee state courts and in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee.

Mr. Sneed and his wife, Susan, have been married since 1991 and have one child. Mr. Sneed is an active member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church, where he has taught classes, served on the Vestry (2009-2011), and served as Junior Warden (2011).

Andrew Trundle, a native of Maryville, Tennessee, graduated in 2005 with a B.A. in history from Rhodes College. He then studied journalism at the University of Memphis and worked as a writer before enrolling at the University of Alabama School of Law. While in law school, Andrew served on several school committees, represented the law school in intramural athletic competitions, and was a member of the Bench & Bar honor society. He also participated in three legal clinics and was named the Outstanding Clinic Student.
